Mummy's birthday came and went and left a sore throat for mummy and a cough for Jamie. That was a couple of weeks ago and we just kept saying 'we are nearly over it'. Prior to Ella's birthday party on the 23rd, Jamie coughed so much that he was sick - all over ASDA - but he was fine at the party. When we got back (after eating all his cake washed down with milk) he was sick again but actually seemed quite well in himself!
Mummy and Daddy both feel guilty that we did not take Jamie to the Doctors sooner. Turns out he has a chest infection and has been put on a course of antibiotics.
Mummy - who was sent home from work last week and had a couple of days in bed - thought she better go to the Drs as well. She also is on antibiotics. It will be February before any resolutions can start!!

Follow up Hospital Visit
Last January Jamie had his first visit to the Hospital to see about his squint. See: http://grumpymumtobe.blogspot.com/2011/01/hospital-visit.html
On Friday we all went along (mummy and daddy and Jamie) for his follow up visit. Am glad to say we were in and out within the hour. No problems this time; which meant Jamie did not have to have the drops in his eyes. However, they did say they would see him again in a year as often problems can begin to show themselves between 3 and 4 years.

The Slap
Recently there has been an Australian drama on the TV based on a book of the same name, called The Slap. This is apparently about an adult who slaps someone elses child at a BarBQ and the repercussions. Well, Jamie last week slapped a girl at Nursery. I am not sure how serious it was as we did not have to complete a form or anything. It seems that at lunch time Jamie was being a bit mardy; not his usual self. He had not eaten his pasta and so it was taken away. At which point Jamie screamed that he wanted it back. And it was about this time that he slapped one of the pre-school girls who was sat next to him!
I have looked on the Internet and it seems that this is not seen as too serious at Jamie's age. According to Assistant Professor of Pediatrics Dr. Seth Scholer, some level of aggressive behavior is normal for toddlers because they haven't learned socially acceptable methods of expressing their emotions. Apparently, by responding appropriately to your toddler's slaps and hits, you can reduce his aggressive behavior before it develops into a more serious problem.

Happy Birthday Everyone!
Nanna B was 70 on Wednesday and it was Daddy's birthday on Friday. This meant more cake and more parties. What with Christmas and New Year, I am sure Jamie thinks its just one party after another - if only! And of course it is mummy's birthday next week! Only after mummy's birthday can we really start our new years resolutions to loose some weight and to save some money!

Month 33
This month your toddler will relish being able to solve problems and it is one way in which he learns new skills. For you, resisting the urge to jump in and solve the problem is the key. If your child has run out of building blocks for his tower and is getting frustrated, suggest that he needs to find something else the same shape as the blocks to complete the tower. This will give him a new challenge (shape sorting and finding) and enable him to complete the tower without help. Once completed remember to give your toddler lots of praise for building such a magnificent tower.
Relatives
Parents are still the most important things in your child’s life, but this month you will notice your toddler enjoying the company of other adults, particularly grandparents and aunts and uncles. Your child’s relatives will all bring different aspects to your child’s life. Think back to when you were small and who your favourite relative was.

Jamie's Secret Santa Stash!!
I spent a good couple of days taking down all the Christmas decorations and then tidying up the house; trying to get back to 'normality'. However, I was conscious that there were two Santa's missing. One that Nanna Mo had given Jamie and sang 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' whenever you pushed its tummy, and another Santa that had (mostly) sat on the TV with his mate Rudolph. I think I have had these about 10 years and got them free one year from Boots after spending a small fortune..... So, I went round the house with my torch looking under everything. Then I went through Jamie's room with a fine tooth comb (as they say). I found a lot of half eaten chocolate and stuff that should not have been there, but no missing Santa's!
And then we were sat at the dining room table. I was on the computer and Jamie was colouring in the colouring book he got from Santa at the North Scarle trains. Jamie dropped his pen on the floor and going under the table to get it, he comes back with Nanna Mo's Santa! I know I had looked and even hoovered under the table, so was very surprised to see him. When I looked under the table myself, Jamie had hidden not 2, but 3 Santa's under the table top; where the extra leaves for the table are!!
All Santa's - including the one Jamie adopted from the girls on New Years Eve - are now safely packed away for next year....

Happy New Year!!
Jamie has loved Christmas and hated mummy making him take down all the decorations and put all his snowmen and reindeer, and bits on the tree 'back into the box'.
After Christmas Day, we had a lovely few days just chilling out. Mummy had to go back to work on Wednesday and Daddy was glad when Jamie went back to nursery on the Friday. Jamie was hyper all week - playing with his new toys and talking about Santa being 'stuck up the Chimney' . Uncle Paul and grandad both came for a play during the week and Jamie got to spend some of his Christmas money on a Doctors set.
New Years Eve was spent with our good friends Paul and Kerry and their 3 children. We went for a meal out in the early evening and then we all stayed up - including Jamie - til midnight, before wishing everyone a Happy New Year!!
