Jamie's year are going to Rand Farm for an overnight stay next week. See: http://randfarmpark.com/residential/
They are spending one night on the farm, taking on the role of farmers and becoming immersed in farmyard life. They will be feeding lambs, milking cows and even cleaning out the pig sty! They are to spend time with local experts, finding out how ice cream is made, as well as learning about the importance of bees. Also looking at life cycles and food chains.
All of this hard work is broken up with regular visits to the play barn and extensive outdoor play area. Children will be in single sex rooms sleeping up to 8 children in bunk beds with an adjacent adult room. Cost £70; includes transport to and from the farm, all food and drink over the two days, accommodation, activities run by experienced professionals, supervision and insurance.
Jamie is very excited. Mummy feels a little strange....

KS1 Celebration of Learning
One good thing about still being off sick, is that I got to attend the end of topic celebration of learning
The year 1 and 2 classes put together a presentation, showing what they had learnt during their Towers, Tunnels and Turrets topic in the main hall. Each class shared their learning from the topic, including medieval dancing, singing, storytelling and talking about the work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
After this, we were all invited back to the classrooms to see all the castles that they had designed and made, alongside some of their writing from the topic.
This is Jamie with the castle he made with his year 1 buddy Lewis.

How many pairs of pants?
Jamie is having a bit of a 'mad' moment currently with regards to his pants. he keeps putting more than one pair on at the same time. This started out as a 'mistake' but now he seems to do it most days. he thinks it is hilarious!!

Parent Consultation - February 2015
Due to mummy being less than mobile, I was worried that this may have affected Jamie's work at the start of year two.
His report at the end of Year 1 was very impressive; his teacher stating; It has been a pleasure to teach Jamie this year. He is very thoughtful and considerate member of our class, who always does his best. He has a super attitude towards learning, listening carefully, asking thoughtful questions and then applying everything that he has heard and found out into his own work. As a result of his Jamie has made impressive progress this year, especially in reading and mathematics. Well done Jamie.
I have to admit that I haven't been able to help him with him homework to the extent that I feel I should have been, over the last few months. I felt therefore I should attend this weeks consultation to check on his progress.
I need not have been worried. His teacher was very pleased with his progress. His reading and writing are brilliant. She showed me some of his written stories. He has a tendency to get carried away with telling the story, but is using connecting words as well as correct punctuation. He could use some work on his handwriting though....
I was unhappy that I could not make the recent Maths workshop, due to having my stitches out. His teacher explained that they are running 'Booster' groups to get children up to expected levels, and said that she wasn't particularly worried about Jamie's maths.
She said she was happy with his 'personal, emotional and social development (including behaviour).' She didn't mention Jamie's recent stint on 'Number2', which she had told Nana about one night after school. Jamie had said 'Poooeee' very loudly after one of the year 1s had had a small accident! He was very upset to find himself on number 2 and didn't want to talk about it to either myself or daddy.... He has talked about it recently. Jamie was just trying to be funny. He now realises that it was because he may have upset the poor boy.
The evening ended with his teacher reminding him it was pancake day - something I had been trying to avoid. But we found some easy mix with Maple Syrup and Chocolate Sauce.....!
